Cue Art Foundation to host Rehearsing Solidarity, 4/14

Rehearsing Solidarity focuses on the work of imagining better working conditions together in art world workplace organizing. Through collaging “ideal” employment contract clauses in small breakout groups, this workshop aims to familiarize participants with some of the goals of unionization, explore the meaning of solidarity within their own workplaces, and examine the emotional registers of organizing in the art world. These activities will be introduced by a reflection on the process of forming the New Museum Union, and will conclude with a group discussion on fostering modes of care and striving toward a more just (art) world.

This workshop will be held online 4/14 from 6 to 8pm via Zoom. Please RSVP to receive Zoom meeting details prior to the event.

This workshop is developed and facilitated by members of the New Museum Union. The New Museum Union was founded in January 2019 in order to make the New Museum a more equitable and sustainable workplace. Organized with Local 2110 of the UAW, the New Museum Union represents administrative workers, visitor services and retail workers, and part-time art handlers and registrars. newmuseumunion.org
