Abrons Arts Center and Henry Street Settlement Artist Community Relief Fund - The second round of applications is currently closed. Please sign up for their Relief Fund Mailing List and they will notify you if more funds become available. This fund supports artists and arts workers in the Center and Settlement’s local community affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Awesome Foundation Grants for New Yorkers - A pandemic may keep people apart, but it can’t stop Awesome. Apply for a $1,000 microgrant for creative and meaningful impact in NYC.

Brooklyn COVID-19 Response Fund for Community Organizations - Phase 2 of applications is currently closed. Brooklyn Community Foundation launched the Brooklyn COVID-19 Response Fund in March 2020 to address the health, economic, and social impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Fund is deeply rooted in their values of racial equity. Through their racial justice lens, they prioritize support for nonprofits that are led by members of affected communities in order to center the voices of those directly impacted by structural racism.

Bronx Community Relief Effort Nonprofit Grant - There are presently no open calls for submissions. This grant provides assistance for nonprofits that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bronx Community Relief Effort Food Access Grant - There are presently no open calls for submissions. The Bronx Community Foundation invites individuals and organizations to submit funding applications for supporting access to food in the Bronx. Grassroots organizations, small businesses, and groups offering innovation solutions are welcome to apply.

COVID-19 Bail Out NYC - COVID-19 Bail Out NYC is an all-volunteer, emergency grassroots initiative that has teamed up with Emergency Release Fund to get people safe and free. Please give generously. 

Emergency COVID-19 Relief for Sex Workers in New York - Organized by the Brooklyn chapter of the Sex Workers Outreach Project, this is donation-based fund, geared to support those whose needs are compounded by stigma.

Humanities New York Action Grant Program - Action Grants offer up to $5,000 to implement humanities projects that encourage public audiences to reflect on their values, explore new ideas, and engage with others in their community.

Meals for Brooklyn Hospital Staff Fund - This fund supports both Brooklyn Hospital workers and small, locally owned restaurants, delivering more than 1,500 meals/day to Brooklyn Hospital.

New York Council of Nonprofits COVID-19 Resources for Nonprofits - NYCON has gathered local and national resources that your nonprofit may find helpful in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

NYC Dancers Relief Fund - This fund offers relief to freelance dance artists that have suffered financial losses due to the spread of coronavirus.

NYC Street Vendors Emergency Fund - Many street vendors are immigrant-owned, making them illegible for government support. The Urban Justice Center is collecting cash donations to directly support $200 relief payments made out to its 1,000+ street vendor members.

Relief Fund for Indie Theatre Companies - The Indie Theater Fund is offering unrestricted rapid relief grants to NYC based indie theater companies and individual artists in need due to the financial strain of closings, etc. related to COVID-19. 

Undocumented Youth Fund - The New York State Youth Leadership Council (NYSYLC) is raising funds to provide emergency and preventative resources to undocumented youth at financial risk.

COVID-19 Food Hub NYC - The Food Education Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, shares resources on available food sources for families and general resources created with their partner organizations.

COVID-19 NYC Food Assistance Resources - During the COVID-19 public health crisis, New York City is taking steps to make sure every New Yorker has access to the food they need.

COVID-19 Relief for NYC Art Galleries, Artists, and Art Workers - Petition for rent freezes, medicare support for non-permanent workers, and grant relief initiatives for arts-sector small businesses.

COVID-19 Resources Translated - This website aggregates new and existing printable documents for New Yorkers whose primary language is not English (inclusive of emergency, food, and language resources).

Cuir Kitchen Brigade: Bushwick and Bedford-Stuyvesant QTBIPOC Mutual Aid - This form is for Q/t/bipoc individuals who reside in Brooklyn and are in need of supplies or have things to offer. Please be specific with your asks. 

Flux Artist Mutual Aid - Flux Factory, an Artist-in-Residence program and community collective, is raising funds for hundreds of alumni who have lost work during this time. This money will go to assist them with food, family support, rent, and other basic living costs.

Food Bank NYC - Information on how to access organizations providing emergency food in NYC.

Food Help NYC - Those in need can get food today from New York City’s food pantries, which provide groceries you can cook at home, and community kitchens, which provide hot meals. Food pantries and community kitchens are located throughout the five boroughs.

Food Resources in the Flushing Area - This document brings together food resources in Flushing, Queens including food pick-up, grocery and pantry deliveries, open markets, and closures.

Gabriela NY COVID-19 Community Survey - This is a brief survey created by GABRIELA New York, an organization that advocates for the rights and welfare of Filipino women, gender non conforming Filipinos, and Filipino children. This survey will help them understand the impacts of COVID-19 on Filipino women and gender nonconforming Filipinos in NYC, and if there are specific concerns or needs they can respond to in their community.

God’s Love We Deliver - God’s Love We Deliver believes that no one should have to suffer the dual crises of hunger and illness, and that proper nutrition is vital to improving the health and well-being of the body and mind. Since 1985, they have prepared and delivered food to people who are too sick to shop or cook for themselves. They serve men, women, and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, Alzheimer’s Disease, ALS, Parkinson’s disease and other life-altering illness throughout the five boroughs of New York City, Westchester and Nassau Counties, and Hudson County, NJ.

Housing Court Answers Hotline - Although evictions are suspended, each NYC borough will have one judge handling emergency cases including illegal lockout cases, emergency HP Actions, and post-eviction cases. Anyone in this situation can call the court. For questions about court or evictions, the Housing Court Answers’s hotline will continue to operate Monday through Friday, 9AM–5PM at 212.962.4795.

Mount Sinai NOW Video Urgent Care - Mount Sinai NOW is a telehealth service that provides online medical consultations for $25, regardless of health insurance status.

Mutual Aid NYC - Everyday New Yorkers working to lift up local organizing, connect people to resources, and build a citywide movement to address this crisis.

New York City Agency Service Updates - Up-to-date information on suspensions and reductions in City services.

New York City COVID-19 Resources - Includes lists of financial resources for those in need, resources for those who are able to provide financial assistance, and NYC Government documents, among other assets.

New York Immigrant Coalition COVID-19 Community Resources - Undocumented and documented New Yorkers looking for up-to-date information about how COVID-19 affects NYC residents can find comprehensive information here.

New York State Department of Labor NY State Shared Work Program - This program lets organizations keep trained staff and avoid layoffs. Employees can receive partial Unemployment Insurance benefits while working reduced hours. Full-time, part-time and seasonal employees are eligible.

New York State Unemployment Assistance - Information on how to apply for unemployment assistance during this period. 

NYC Department of Education Free Meals - The New York City Department of Education is committed to making free meals available daily for any New Yorker. Students and families can go to nearby school buildings for takeout meals. Additionally, any New Yorker can receive free meals available at locations across the city.

NYC Department of Small Business Services - Offering assistance, guidance, loans, and other support for impacted small businesses.

NYC Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs COVID-19 Resources Guide for Immigrants - This resource guide is for immigrant communities that are in need of support and assistance during COVID-19. Resources range in the categories of healthcare, housing, and financial assistance.

NYC Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities Resources for People with Disabilities - The following information has been gathered specifically to inform people with disabilities on the resources available to the population during NYC's response to the COVID-19 outbreak. 

NYC United Against Coronavirus - This document contains information and resources to help New Yorkers respond to the coronavirus.

NYC Well - Connection to free, confidential mental health support. Speak to a counselor via phone, text, or chat. Call 888.NYC.WELL (888.692.9355).

Samaritans NYC Guide to Suicide Prevention, Services and Resources - This guide is designed to address the needs of those who provide care to people who are in distress or at-risk for suicide or who have lost a loved one to suicide by providing them with key linkages to resources, tools, research, and support services.

Service Workers Coalition - A mutual aid network for service workers in Brooklyn. Email if you need help or want to get involved.

Thrive Mental Health Support While Home - While the city stays home to stop the spread of coronavirus, New Yorkers can access a range of mental health services by phone or online. 

Trickle Up - NYC Artists Network - Trickle Up NYC enlists performing artists who are suffering from lost income, by sharing work on the platform. The goal is to attract 10,000 subscribers at $10 a month, then every month they can give $10,000 commissions (for further video content) to 10 different artists affected by the pandemic. And every month thereafter new artists in need will get $10,000 commissions.

Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts Legal Inquiry Form - VLA is the leading legal aid and education organization dedicated to New York artists and its arts and cultural organizations. Understanding the challenges that are being faced by artists and arts institutions, VLA is working to expedite COVID-related matters to ensure those affected receive crucial legal assistance.

National Funding

Actors Fund Entertainment Assistance Program - The Actors Fund provides services and financial support to entertainment professionals facing personal or work-related problems. It is also a conduit for emergency financial assistance in times of pressing need or in response to catastrophic events.

American Society of Journalists & Authors Writers Emergency Assistant Fund - This fund helps established freelance writers who, because of advanced age, illness, disability, a natural disaster, or an extraordinary professional crisis, are unable to work. A writer need not be a member of ASJA to qualify for a grant. WEAF does not award grants to beginning freelancers seeking funding for writing projects, nor does it fund works-in-progress of any kind.

Artist + Activist Relief Fund - This fund provides one time grants of $250-$750 to artists and activists affected by COVID-19. Applications are currently closed, but there is a waitlist available. 

Artist Charitable Fund - The fund is a small nonprofit that focuses on assisting painters and sculptors by paying a portion of emergency medical bills directly to the medical providers. The fund is legally not able to pay artists directly.

Artists’ Fellowship - The Artists’ Fellowship provides emergency aid to professional visual artists and their families in times of sickness, natural disaster, bereavement, or unexpected extreme hardship.

Artist Relief for COVID-19 - Artist Relief is an initiative organized by the Academy of American PoetsArtadiaCreative CapitalFoundation for Contemporary ArtsMAP FundNational Young Arts Foundation, and United States Artists—all small to mid-sized national arts grantmakers—that have come together in this unprecedented moment to distribute $5,000 grants to artists facing dire financial emergencies due to COVID-19; serve as an ongoing informational resource; and co-launch the COVID-19 Impact Survey for Artists and Creative Workersdesigned by Americans for the Arts, to better identify and address the needs of artists moving forward. 

Arts and Culture Leaders of Color Emergency Fund - This emergency fund is currently on pause and provided up to $200 for people of color that are either working artists or art administrators and are affected by COVID-19. Additional information will be provided in the late Summer/early Fall of 2021.

Authors League Fund - The Authors League Fund helps professional writers in financial need because of medical or health-related problems, temporary loss of income, or other misfortune by providing no-strings-attached “loans” to pay for pressing expenses.

Bartender Emergency Assistance Program - Grants are available for bartenders and the spouses and children of bartenders experiencing financial hardship.

Black Art Futures Fund - A collaborative funding project headed by philanthropist and arts leader DéLana R.A. Dameron that supports small, Black-arts, non-profit organizations.

Carnegie Fund for Authors - The Carnegie Fund is established to support American authors who have published at least one full-length work—fiction or nonfiction—with a mainstream publisher in any format and is in state of emergency.

CERF+ Emergency Relief Fund - Have you or an artist you know experienced a recent, career-threatening emergency, such as an illness, accident, fire or natural disaster? CERF+ emergency assistance includes grants and/or brokered assistance, such as booth fee waivers and discounts or donations on supplies and equipment. Artists interested in CERF+ emergency assistance must first complete an inquiry form. If it is determined from the questions that you may be eligible for assistance, you will be invited to apply for assistance. 

Dramatist Guild Foundation Emergency Grant - DGF provides emergency financial assistance to individual playwrights, composers, lyricists, and librettists in dire need of funds due to severe hardship or unexpected illness.

Emerging Artist Relief Fund - This new emergency relief fund provides $500 grants to young and emerging artists and arts administrators struggling because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Federal Emergency Management Agency Public Assistance Program - FEMA is providing reimbursement for emergency protective measures to eligible nonprofits through its Public Assistance Program. This program reimburses eligible costs for emergency protective measures directly related to COVID-19 (e.g. sanitizing eligible spaces, as well as other COVID-19-related emergency measures/staff and supplies). Financial Solidarity Micro-Grant Requests - This spreadsheet is for those who have been affected by the outbreak to request money and for those who still retain their income to donate.  

Freelancer COVID-19 Emergency Fund - This fund is designed for freelancers affected by COVID-19 and its impact (school closures, client cancellations, medical expenses, inability to pay basic living expenses, etc.). They stress that applicants ask for what they need right now—not in the long-term—and to try and pay it forward by eventually contributing back to the fund or another charity supporting freelancers. Applications are on a rolling basis; donations needed.

Foundation for Contemporary Arts Relief Fund - The Foundation for Contemporary Arts has creating two funds to meet the needs of experimental artists who have been impacted by the economic fallout of COVID-19. Either apply if your performance and/or exhibition was canceled or postponed, if you have a sudden opportunity to present your work to the public, or if you have incurred unanticipated costs close to the date of a performance or exhibition.

Giving Compass List of Nationwide Relief Funds - Giving Compass and National Center for Family Philanthropy (NCFP) are working together to bring you the most comprehensive list of vetted response and relief funds.

Glad Day’s Emergency Survival Fund for LGBTQ2S Artists, Performers, and Tip-based Workers - Glad Day has set up an emergency fund to help LGBTQ2S artists, performers, and tip-based workers to swiftly help those who cannot pay for food, medicine, rent, and necessities.

Gottlieb Emergency Grant Program - This emergency grant provides financial assistance to painters, printmakers, and sculptors whose needs are the result of an unforeseen incident, and who lack the resources to meet that situation.

HOWL Emergency Life Project - The Howl Emergency Life Project (HELP) provides emergency financial assistance and social service support to artists who have participated in the annual HOWL Festival.

International Women’s Media Foundation Journalism Relief Fund - The IWMF Journalism Relief Fund is open to women-identifying journalists who have faced significant financial hardship, lost work, were recently laid off, or who urgently need assistance to avoid severe, irreversible outcomes.

Jazz Foundation Musicians Emergency Fund - Musicians who have made a living playing blues, jazz, and roots music can apply for emergency funding from the Jazz Foundation.

Leveler Peer to Peer Funding - Leveler is a tool for people with job security to help people whose work status has been impacted by COVID-19. The list includes freelancers, service industry, and gig economy workers.

Musicians Foundation - The Musicians Foundation provides grants to U.S. musicians in any genre in a time of acute need due to personal, medical, dental, or family crisis, natural disaster, or other emergency situation.

Mayer Foundation Grant - The core mission of the Foundation is to make economic relief grants to needy individuals who are distressed or suffering; to make grants to other 501(C)(3) organizations for educational, literary, cultural, humanitarian, scientific, health-care related and other charitable purposes; and to award scholarship benefits and student aid to high school, college, or graduate school students to enable the recipients to complete an undergraduate or graduate education in the field of their choice at the college or graduate school of their choice.

One Fair Wage Emergency Fund - Donate to give cash assistance to tipped workers and other service workers.

Pet Project Grant - Jeremy O. Harris, The Bushwick Starr, and SSENSE WORKS have partnered to continue providing financial relief to playwrights in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pollock-Krasner Foundation - These grants enable artists to create new work, purchase needed materials, and pay for studio rent as well as their personal and medical expenses.

PEN American Writers’ Emergency Fund - The PEN America Writers’ Emergency Fund is a small grants program for professional—published or produced—writers in acute or unexpected financial crisis. As of February 23, 2021, the fund is currently on pause.

Queer Writers of Color Relief Fund - This fund is for queer writers of color who are in need of financial assistance. The fund is currently on pause and will work hard to get more funding.

SAG-AFTRA COVID-19 Disaster Fund - The organization has created the COVID-19 Disaster Fund now available to eligible SAG-AFTRA members who have been impacted by the pandemic.

Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America’s Emergency Medical Fund - Supports genre writers to pay for medical expenses not otherwise covered by insurance.

South Asian Arts Resiliency Fund - The South Asian Arts Resiliency Fund will assist US-based South Asian arts workers in performing arts, film, visual arts, and/or literature, who have been impacted by the economic fallout of COVID-19. They provide a minimum of $1000 project-based grants to create and innovate; the grants will be distributed on a rolling basis.

SUSU Support for Black Feminists - Grants for Black feminists or organizations most impacted by COVID-19; the grants will be distributed on a rolling basis.

U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Economic Injury Disaster Loans and Loan Advance - This program provides low-interest disaster relief loans, with eligibility for nonprofit organizations.

U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Paycheck Protection Program - $310 billion currently available on a first-come, first-served basis. Nonprofits and businesses with 500 or fewer employees are eligible.

National Mutual Aid, Resources, and Surveys

Americans for the Arts Impact Survey - Americans for the Arts has been tracking the human and financial impacts of COVID-19 since the pandemic began. They have released a new Arts Impact Survey. This survey will continue to gather the impact data that is critical to their collective advocacy efforts. In addition, as we all follow the hopeful news about vaccine distribution, this survey also gathers information about the challenges facing the arts sector in the relief/recovery and re-opening processes.

Anti-Eviction Mapping Project - This is an evolving map that shows where United States officials have passed, or where tenants are working to pass, emergency tenant protections during the COVID-19 crisis.

Art Open Calls Resource Roundup - In response to Coronavirus and its impacts on various communities, Art Open Calls & Perennial Press have compiled this living document containing resources for artists.

ArtsReady - An online emergency preparedness service by and for arts/cultural nonprofits; provides arts organizations with customized business continuity plans for post-crisis sustainability. 

Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Resources - This community library is a collection of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) in-language resources on COVID-19. The resource links have been submitted by community members, leaders, and national and community-based organizations that are actively working to improve the health & well-being of AA and NHPI communities. This project is community-powered and community-driven directly for communities.

Billboard State-by-State Resource Guide for Music Professionals Who Need Help During the Coronavirus Crisis - To help music professionals and their loved ones navigate the crisis, Billboard has compiled a list of resources at both the national and state levels, including more than four dozen relief funds.

Chronic Illness Leadership For Emergent Times (CIFET): A U.S. Network Launched in the COVID-19 Pandemic - Strategy, practical tools and support for people with chronic illnesses in the US, incorporating disability justice, emergent strategies, and mutual aid practices. 

Cloud9’s Mutual Aid Resources - A living document to help navigate the incredible amount of resources that have been shared around this pandemic. List includes resources for mutual aid, direct action, housing, food, financial assistance, community, spirituality, wellness, and learning.

Common Field COVID-19 Arts Organizer Resources - This list is for arts organizers - please add resources, ideas, thinking, and information surrounding best practices during pandemics and other emergencies. 

COVID-19 At-Home Mental Health Resource List - This list comprises fact sheets, crisis hotlines, teletherapy resources, support groups, family resources, relaxation and general mental health resources, and arts, entertainment, and financial resource links.   

COVID-19 Fund at Sweet Relief - The Sweet Relief Musicians Fund already supports musicians in need; in light of COVID-19, this specific and limited fund will be utilized for musicians and music industry workers affected by the virus. Funds are intended to go toward medical bills, food, and other essential expenses; applicants must provide proof of cancellations and bookings.

COVID-19 Mutual Aid Directory: Hire Independent Artists - This is a growing directory of independent artists whose livelihoods are impacted due to COVID-19. Most of these artists identify as QTBIPOC (listed first). Supporters can directly donate to artists and artists can fill out the form to be listed.

COVID-19 Racial Equity & Social Justice Resources - The COVID-19 Racial Equity & Social Justice resource list includes information to help communities and activists as they work to understand and respond to the moment and for the long haul.

Crowdsourced Tracking of Cultural Workers Economic Losses Due to COVID-19 - A document for organizations and individuals trying to respond in solidarity to understand what the scale of the situation is. Participants are invited to fill in their own experience of lost work, cancellations, and economic uncertainty. 

Documenting Your Community’s Experience of COVID-19: A Resource List from Society for American Archivists - This document serves as an annotated resource list of various community archiving initiatives related to documenting experiences and responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. This list is divided into two sections: institutional responses and broad guidelines.

First Book - Educators serving kids in low-income communities are critically lacking basic resources, such as books for kids to take home, and other high-need resources for their communities. First Book is working to deploy over 7 million books across the country.

Freelance Artist Resource - The Freelance Artist Resource list is specifically designed to serve freelance artists, and those interested in supporting the independent artist community. This includes, but is not limited to, actors, designers, producers, technicians, stage managers, musicians, composers, choreographers, visual artists, filmmakers, craft artists, teaching artists, dancers, writers & playwrights, photographers, etc.

Get Us PPE – Connecting Makers with Healthcare Professionals - Fueled by a desire to help in the fight against COVID-19, makers, hackers, engineers, and manufacturers from around the world have joined together with medical professionals to get frontline healthcare workers the necessary protection they need to stay safe.

Healing & Arts Resources During COVID-19 - A collective document created by Huiying B. Chan to gather healing & arts resources offered virtually during the pandemic, especially ones that center/are run by people of color.

Mask Match - A national service that pairs those with spare (or homemade) masks with healthcare workers who need them.

Masks for Docs - A global network of volunteers accepting PPE donations to be delivered to workers on the front lines.

Masks for Medicine - A grassroots campaign that collects and donates medical supplies (including handmade masks, caps, and protective face shields) to doctors and nurses.

Meals on Wheels America - Meals on Wheels operates in virtually every community in America through their network of more than 5,000 independently-run local programs. While the diversity of each program's services and operations may vary based on the needs and resources of their communities, they are all committed to supporting their senior neighbors to live healthier and more nourished lives in their own homes.

Movement for Black Lives COVID-19 Mutual Aid Fund - Support for Black-led organizations during the pandemic.

National Association for the Deaf #CoronavirusinASL and Resources for Deaf Individuals - A list comprising of health and labor resources for deaf individuals.

National Coalition Against Domestic Violence COVID-19 Resources for Domestic Violence Organizations - Information and support for those needing direct services during this unprecedented crisis.

National Coalition for Arts Preparedness and Emergency Response - NCAPER is a voluntary task force of national, regional, state, and local arts organizations, public agencies, and foundations. The coalition helps ensure that artists, arts/cultural organizations, cultural funders, and arts businesses have the capacity and ability to respond effectively to disasters and emergencies affecting the arts and culture sector.

National Domestic Violence Hotline COVID-19 Resources for Domestic Violence - A resource page detailing how to stay safe during COVID-19 and numbers to call or actions to take if feeling unsafe.

National Queer and Trans Therapists of Color Network - National Queer and Trans Therapists of Color Network (NQTTCN) is a healing justice organization committed to transforming mental health for queer and trans people of color (QTPoC). 

New York Lawyers for the Public Interest’s Pro Bono Clearinghouse - They connect nonprofit organizations with free legal services by drawing on volunteer lawyers from New York’s law firms and corporate law departments. Legal projects referred through the Clearinghouse provide high-quality legal solutions to organizations that strengthen communities and serve underrepresented New Yorkers. NYLPI is also providing legal assistance to organizations on COVID-19 related matters including employment law, contracts, real estate and more.
