Funds will support the creation of 20 large thangkas, 11 mandalas, and a set of accompanying Tsaglis from the terma tradition of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and other rare Tibetan terma traditions that have not been properly documented. High-resolution images of all completed works will be provided to HAR.
While the immediate goal of the project is to produce the art, the long-term goal is to train a generation of traditional Tibetan artists. The cost of the project covers both materials and support for the students, as well as room and board; the training by master Konchog Lhadrepa, who was asked to create the school by Dilgo Khyentse, is provided free of charge. The figure of $26,670 is the full annual budget for a total of three years, which is the estimated time to complete the project. Shechen requests three equal installments of $8,890 through 2013.
